What changed?

After meandering through life for many years with no real change in my life I have a friend to thank. My health while generally good, was not as good as it could be. I had health conditions that long term could make life harder or even kill me.

I met Ryan a little over 2 years ago while doing something a little crazy. I participated in the SC Make A Wish Trailblaze Challenge. This challenge benefited children that are very sick and allows for the funds to make their wish come true. The challenge was to hike 28.3 miles in one day on the Foothills Trail in the mountains of SC. I successfully walked 28.3+ miles that day, slightly battered... Ryan also participated and was second from last to finish. We became Facebook friends and life went on. Starting in the spring of 2018 he started posting pictures of himself and the weight he was losing. I thought to myself, that's cool. Over the next year he lost about 120 pounds and it made me start to think about myself.

What I didn't know was that he adopted a ketogenic lifestyle. He also continued to improve his overall health and did the Trailblaze Challenge again this past spring. He finished second overall. I had already changed my lifestyle by the time he did this but it definitely motivated me to keep it up.
