What are macros?

Macro is short for macronutrients. These are the nutrients that make up the food we eat. There are three categories: Carbohydrates, Fats and proteins. Different lifestyles consume these in different proportions.
USDA recommended: 45-65% carbs, 20-35% fat, and 10-35% protein
The Zone Diet: 40% carbs, 30% fat, and 30% protein
Atkins: 15% carbs, fat and protein as desired
Keto: 5% carbs, 70% fat, and 25% protein
The calorie content of each macro is as follows
A gram of protein contains 4 calories
And a gram of fat contains 9 calories
A gram of carbohydrates contains 4 calories
